WELCOME TO LANARK PRIMARY SCHOOL ONLINE

Reading Schools Week

We would like to highlight our plans to celebrate Reading Schools Week which will take place from 2nd February to 6th February, designed to promote a love of reading and highlight the importance of reading for enjoyment.

Our involvement forms part of our work towards renewing our Reading Schools Gold Award, recognising our continued commitment to high-quality reading experiences for all children.

Throughout the week, pupils will take part in a range of engaging and inclusive activities that encourage reading in different ways – in classrooms and across the school. These experiences are designed not only to celebrate reading, but also to help strengthen skills, confidence and positive reading habits for learners at every stage.

Reading Schools Week also supports our wider school improvement work by fostering enthusiasm, motivation and a shared reading culture across our community. We look forward to sharing some of the highlights with you and would like to thank families for their continued support in encouraging reading at home.

Many thanks to Mrs Mulvey, our Literacy Co-ordinator, and our Reading Pupil Leadership Team in Room 8 for leading this work!

Our Vision & Aims

Our Vision:

At Lanark Primary School and ELC, learning is at the heart of all we do. We strive to provide rich learning experiences that build confidence and self-belief. We foster a ‘can do’ attitude which enables everyone to reach their full potential.

Our Aims:

These are:

to have a clear focus on learning and teaching

to provide high quality teaching of core skills (e.g. literacy, numeracy- including problem solving)

to provide real contexts for learning, including outdoor learning, and link learning to support pupils’ understanding of the world around them

to develop the key personal qualities of resilience, perseverance and a positive attitude to learning (being ‘ready to learn’)

to encourage skills for life, learning and work
