WELCOME TO LANARK PRIMARY SCHOOL ONLINE

Protocol for Dealing with Pupils Displaying Covid-19 Symptoms

It is important that we continue to work together to be vigilant for Covid-19 infection symptoms and know what to look out for.

The most common symptoms are:

  • new continuous cough
  • fever / high temperature
  • loss of, or change in, sense of smell or taste

If your child displays any of these symptoms at home, it is important that you know what to do next.

  • Please keep your child and any siblings at home
  • Contact the school to inform us- either on 01555 662806 or email via this app
  • Parents/Carers should follow the Trace and Protect process within NHSInform- https://www.nhsinform.scot/
  • It is vital that you arrange a test for your child/children as soon as possible by accessing the link below:

https://www.nhsinform.scot/self-help-guides/self-help-guide-access-to-testing-for-coronavirus

  • If you cannot access the online form you can call the Helpline on 0800 028 2816 directly.
  • NHS Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire Council and North Lanarkshire Council will work together should a suspected case of COVID-19 infection, a single confirmed case of COVID-19 infection or a cluster or outbreak of such cases arise in an educational establishment. That is why we advise arranging a test as soon as possible, rather than choosing to self-isolate only.

What happens once my child has taken the test and results are given?

  • If the test result is negative, pupils can return with immediate effect. You should still inform the school/ELC as soon as you know the outcome. If this is out of school hours, you should contact us via this app.
  • If the test result is positive, you should again, contact the school as soon as you are told. NHS Protect and Trace will also inform SLC and ourselves directly of this,  so that they can decide on any further actions in terms of those in close contact or those who may need to isolate.  They will discuss isolation within your household directly with you.
  •  All educational establishments are considered complex settings and cases will be prioritised and escalated to a local and specialist Health Protection Team (HPT). Therefore it is important that you arrange a test as soon as possible and inform us of this.
  • If you are finding it diffiult to arrange a test quickly, please contact the school so we can support you with the process.

These arrangements are based on the most uptodate guidance and any changes will be shared with you as necessary.

Many thanks for your continued support.
Take care and stay safe heart
